When it comes to teaching the letters of the alphabet, it’s important for our students to have plenty of practice and repetition! The Benefits of Alphabet Printables

Low-prep printable activities are a great way to add extra letter practice in your classroom without spending a lot of extra prep time.  The best part about alphabet printables is that they can be used throughout your daily routine.  

  • Morning Work: Letter printables can be used for meaningful morning work.  Students can review the alphabet as they wait for the daily routine to start. 
  • Literacy Centers: Alphabet printables can also be used as an option for literacy centers. You can even make them open-ended by putting them in a sheet protector.  Students can complete the activities with dry-erase marker so they can erase and start again after completing the page.

  • Homework: Are you looking for a low-prep option for kindergarten homework? You can add alphabet printables to your homework routine! 
  • Early Finishers: You can have a variety of alphabet printables available for students to choose from if they finish their other learning activities early. 
  • Small Group Instruction: Do you have students who could use more targeted practice with certain letters of the alphabet?  Printable alphabet activities can be a low-prep addition to your small group instruction for students who need more letter practice.

9 Free Letter B Printables for Kindergarten

The following activities will help your students practice letter identification, letter sounds, and letter formation.  This is a great way to bring some engaging variety to your classroom as your students practice the letter b. 

1. Letter Search

First, you can help your students with letter identification using this fun letter search color by code!

Students will find and color uppercase and lowercase letters according to the key.  There is also space for them to practice tracing the letters. 

2. Find and Color

This activity is another fun way to help students identify the uppercase and lowercase letter b.

Similar to the last activity, they will color the letters according to the code.  Your students will be excited to see that they are revealing two hidden letters as they color!

3. Letter B Puzzle

Your students can explore the formation of the letters as they complete this letter B puzzle!

After arranging the puzzle pieces and gluing them to the page, students can trace and write the uppercase and lowercase letters. They can also find and color the letter b at the bottom of the page.  

4. Letter Sort

Give your students the chance to explore uppercase and lowercase letters with this fun popcorn-themed activity!

Students will sort and glue the popcorn letter cards to the correct popcorn tubs.

5. Letter Graphing

Incorporate math practice as your students practice identifying the letter b!  First, students will color the letters on the page according to the key. This will make it easier for them to tally and total the number of each letter on the page.

After coloring and counting the letters, students can interpret the data by indicating which letter had the most and which had the least. They can also practice graphing by coloring in the graph with their results.

6. Beginning Sound Sort

In addition to practicing letter identification, students can also practice identifying the letter b by sound.  This letter b sort comes with a variety of picture cards.

As students name each picture, they will listen for the beginning sound. They will glue the picture to the correct place on the worksheet, depending on whether they hear the /b/ sound or not.

7. Beginning Sound Search

This is another fun way to help students identify beginning sounds!

Students will name the picture on each balloon and decide if they hear the letter b at the beginning.  If they do, they will color the balloon.  If not, they will leave it blank.

8. Beginning Sound Flip Book

After practicing letter sounds, students can put together their own beginning sound flip book!

Students can practicing letter formation by rainbow writing on the letter flap. Underneath each flap, students can attach pictures that begin with that letter sound.

9. Letter Tracing

For even more letter formation practice, you can use these letter-tracing worksheets! You can use these pages in different ways, depending on what you’d like your students to practice.

One worksheet option includes practice for both uppercase and lowercase b.  There are letters at the top of the page that students can decorate or rainbow write. There are also writing lines for tracing and writing the uppercase and lowercase letters.

The other worksheet option has the uppercase letter practice on one page and lowercase letter practice on the other page. This is a great way to add more repetition to your students’ letter formation practice!
