Summer Theme Mystery Pictures
Keep your students’ sight word knowledge sharp for first grade with these summer theme mystery pictures! Students will color the picture based on the sight word code and reveal a summer-themed mystery picture. The best part is that each worksheet is customizable with auto-fill! This means you can easily edit the worksheets to focus on any sight words your students need to review before the school year ends.
If you’re interested in these summer theme mystery pictures, you can find them here on A Spoonful of Learning or on Teachers Pay Teachers.
Felt Picture Frame Craft
Send your students home with a fun memento from the school year! Provide students with blank photo frames and stickers and invite them to decorate the frames however they’d like. Then, add a fun surprise photo in the frame, like a photo of you with the student or a photo from a special field trip. You can find the felt picture frames and foam stickers on Amazon.
End of the Year Memory Book
A memory book can be a fun and meaningful end of the year activity for your students. They can create a special keepsake to take home at the end of the year. This pop-up memory book is a great way for students to reflect on their school year and get excited for summer and beyond!
If you’d like to look closer at this resource, you can find it in the A Spoonful of Learning shop or on Teachers Pay Teachers.
Rock Painting
Students love to paint rocks and it makes a great end of the year art activity! You can give students a theme or allow them to paint anything they’d like. (I like this paint from Amazon.) Once the rocks are painted, the students can take them home as a fun kindergarten memory. If it’s okay with your principal, students could also hide them in the school garden or flower beds. This will give them something fun to look for when they return to school in the fall!
End of the Year Centers
Bring some summer-themed fun to your kindergarten centers rotation! These literacy and math centers will get your students excited for summer fun while helping them prepare for first grade!
If you’d like to take a closer look at these end of the year centers, you can find them in my shop or on TPT!
Foam Visor Craft
Does your school have an end of the year field day or some other outdoor festivities? These foam visors will come in handy for fun in the sun! Plus, students can have fun decorating their visors with foam stickers. Here are some foam visors, letter stickers, and shape stickers that I would recommend.
Ocean Unit
By the end of the school year, many students are dreaming of beach vacations! Channel this summer excitement into an ocean-themed mini unit! I have created an ocean unit study for kindergarten that is full of themed learning activities and crafts. There are enough activities for multiple days of fun!
If you’d like to browse all of the math, literacy, and writing activities included in this unit, you can find this resource in the A Spoonful of Learning shop and on Teachers Pay Teachers.
End of the Year Countdown Activities
Count down the final days of the school year with a paper chain full of fun activities, such as:
- Movie Day
- Popsicle Treat
- Switch Seats
- Extra Recess
- Bubble Play
- Lunch with the Teacher
- Water Balloon Party
- Game Day
- Free iPad Time
- Extra Computer Time
- Doughnut Day
- Read Outside
- Make Slime
- Eat Lunch Outside
- Eat Lunch in the Classroom
- Art Day
Simply cut out colorful strips of paper (the ones pictured above are 1.5 inches wide). Then write a fun idea on each strip and staple them together to create a chain. Display it in the classroom and then, each day, students can remove a link to reveal a fun activity!
First and Last Day of School Coloring Page
One of my favorite parts of kindergarten is seeing how much the students have grown in their reading, math, and even fine motor skills. While there are many ways to see this growth, one of my favorites is looking at how their coloring has improved over the course of the year.
I have created a set of coloring pages so that students can compare their coloring from the first and last days of school. This activity is always a hit with students because the change is usually dramatic!
If this is a keepsake you’d like to use with your students, you can find this freebie in the A Spoonful of Learning shop or on Teachers Pay Teachers.
Q-Tip Picture Painting
I love to find opportunities to add fine motor skill practice into the school day, even during end of the year kindergarten activities! Q-Tip painting is a fun and engaging fine motor activity for young students. They will love painting these summer-themed pictures! If you would like to use these with your students, just fill out the form below and the freebie will be delivered straight to your inbox.
Summer Digital Centers
Digital centers are always popular with students, especially when there’s a fun summer twist! Students can build sand castles, color ocean animals, and more as they practice literacy and math skills.
If you’d like to take a closer look at what skills and activities are included in these summer digital centers, you can find this resource in the A Spoonful of Learning shop or on Teachers Pay Teachers.
