This week I was in my classroom starting to get my classroom organized and ready for the school year. I took a look up at my windows and saw that my curtains needed a change. To be completely honest, they needed a MAKEOVER BIG TIME!!!
I thought up some ideas in my head and really had no idea if it was going to even work or look good. Lots of times my ideas sound great in my head, but when I actually do them they end up being a mess or very difficult! (my husband would definitely agree with me on this!)
I was so surprised and very excited about how easy, fun, and cute my curtains idea turned out to be! The best part is that they did even require sewing or glue! Here they are:
I of course wanted to share with you how to make them in case your curtains are in need of a makeover or update as well! These curtains would also be a great addition for a kids bedroom!
Here is what you need:
– Tulle
– Ribbon
– Curtain Rods (I bought 2 from Walmart for under $5!)
– Scissors
Step 1: Decide how long you want your Tulle on the curtain rod. Whatever length you want it to be, double that so you know how long to cut the tulle.
**I wanted my tulle to be about 1 yard long on the rod, so I cut my tulle into strips that were 2 yards long. (They end up being 1 yard long on the curtain rod because they get folded in half).
Step 2: Take your curtain rod and lay it out in front of you. Take a strip of tulle and fold it in half. Place the tulle still folded in half under the curtain rod. Take the two separated ends of the tulle and slide it through the loop where the tulle is folded in half. Pull it until the tulle holds on to the curtain rod. Continue doing this with your tulle all the way across the curtain rod until you are happy with the fullness.
Step 3: Cut strips of ribbon about 3 inches longer than the length of the tulle on your curtain rod. At different spots on the curtain rod, tie the ribbon in a knot to hold in place.
Step 4: Hang up your curtain rods and enjoy your beautiful new curtains!!
